No Rugby Score at Six Ways
Worcester Raiders 0 Corsham Town 0
For the second game in a row, Corsham failed to find the back of the net, but it wasn’t for the trying. The wonderful Autumn sunshine and amazing setting of the Sixways Stadium did little to enhance a game that was played at a high pace but with little real excitement, I suppose we have been spoilt over the past few months. The squad saw the addition of three new signings, with Matt Jones and Owen Humphries making the starting line-up.
The early exchanges saw Corsham start well with Shaq Smith running clear and firing wide and James Rusby heading just over from a Matt Jones corner. The Raiders were looking dangerous on the counterattack and forced Alfie Kesley into a smart save low down.
Midway through the half skipper Mark Cooper bought the ball down with his chest and hit a sweet volley narrowly wide and Humphries produced a good effort from a distance that whistled past the left post.
As half-time approached Corsham should really have taken the lead with numerous chances amounting to nothing, Jones rattled the crossbar, Humphries had a shot well saved and Dan Price headed wide from a Humphries cross.
In the end, a first half dominated by the Quarrymen all that was missing was a goal.
As the second half progressed in hot conditions the pace predicably began to drop, Corsham where still creating chances but despite a couple of changes appeared to lose their way and the Raiders came back into the game without making any real good chances.
Finally, the game petered out and Corsham had to settle for a point on the road, not the worst result at a tough place to go but they were kicking themselves for missed chances early on.
