Despite a sunny morning, the rain clouds were gathering over the Taxtful Southbank but the home faithfully was still there in numbers to see an unchanged squad from the previous league match, the first time this season.

In form, Tuffley started the match well, with half-hearted appeals for handball in the open few minutes. It took a few minutes for the Quarrymen to find their rhythm but when they did the result was never in doubt. Leon Greenland made an excellent overlapping run but his deflected shot was palmed wide by the Tuffley keeper.

Owen Humphries and Dan Demkiv were looking dangerous and James Rusby had two good chances, both missing the target by inches. With the rain falling heavily it was going to look like it might be a frustrating afternoon as Tuflley weathered the storm but on 28 minutes, man of the match Humphries broke the deadlock curling home from just inside the box following an assist from Demkiv.

This was quickly followed by the second from one of the league’s leading marksmen, Dan Price, placing the ball into the top corner of the Rovers goal. This followed some great work from Rusby.
The visitors were struggling to get into the Corsham half now, but a rare attack saw them shot over from distance.

After another indifferent start to the second half, Corsham took control of the game again. Despite Tuffley trying to rough it up a bit which saw a string of yellow cards for both sides including the Corsham Gaffer, Corsham maintained control but despite the pressure couldn’t increase their lead.

The match finished with Neikel Plummer being sin-binned for yet another strange decision by the referee. A solid yet unspectacular second half from the hosts as the conditions worsened but a good 3 points against a hard-working side. Incidentally with the rain continuing the pitch was unplayable 30 minutes after the final whistle.
