CLUB UPDATE – ROLES REVERSE FOR THE JOES

The club can confirm that following a meeting between joint shareholders Joe Martin and Joe Barker, Joe Martin will step up and take over the day-to-day running of the club as Managing Director and Joe Barker will take a step back from the majority of his responsibilities as he prepares to welcome his daughter into the world in 5 weeks time with his fiancé Georgia and son Albie.

Joe Barker was invited to get involved with the club two years ago and since then with the support of Joe Martin and the rest of the team, the club has gone from strength to strength. Joe has helped massively with the engagement into the local community and has been key in us attracting a firm base of Commercial Partners to help drive the club forward. For the majority of last season, ‘Barkz’ was more hands-on in the day-to-day running of the club but due to the pending new arrival of his daughter has taken the decision to step back from this aspect of his role and pass the reigns back over to former Chairman, Joe Martin.

Joe Barker added “Whilst it has been a difficult decision to relinquish some short-term responsibility, it is 100% the right thing to do as being present to support my family will always come first. I feel that to be involved in the day-to-day running of the club and for us to continue to be the best, you need to have your finger on the pulse all of the time and with the family expanding in a short period of time, I know this would not have been possible. I have had the privilege of becoming great friends with Joe (Martin) and with his experience as former Chairman and the successful running of JM Roofing & Sons Ltd stands the club is for great success. I will still be involved in the background and as the months go by, I hope to have increased my workload for the club again by Christmas. I firmly believe that this is the year of ‘great things for the club and with Kieran managing this fantastic squad that we have assembled and Joe managing the group of Directors, we can expect success and silverware for Corsham”

Joe Martin will now take over the role as Managing Director and is the perfect man for the role given his expertise and 6 years of service as chairman of the club.

Joe Martin added “After last year taking a slight step back from the day-to-day running of the club, I’ve been able recharge the batteries ahead of this season. I believe that to continue to drive the club forward, a fresh outlook on things at the very top is always a good thing. With the team that we have assembled beneath is, this stands us in great stead and continues to future proof the club. The group of Directors that are currently involved with the club have been given specific roles and responsibilities that fall in-line with their skills sets. I believe that by doing this, we can get the best out of our people and the best outcomes for the club. As joint shareholders, Barkz and I greatly appreciate the support that we have received over the last 5 years and both feel very proud to lead the club in the current day”

We would like to thank all supporters for taking the time to read this and we look forward to seeing you at the open training session on Saturday 1st July!
